What bad habit have you broken?

Joanne's FAVORITE answer:
After 50 years, that's a half century (no exaggeration), smoking. I'm in my 9th week smoke free. Say a pray that I stay strong in my resolve to "make smoking history".

Joanne's answer:
I'm not so good at breaking bad habits...that requires a special skill that I lack called BEHAVIORAL REGULATION!! However, there are two somewhat bad habits that seemed to have been broken not even totally on purpose, just from various other changes in my life/environment....and those are no longer being addicted to diet coke (I used to drink 2-3 cans at school every day, not to mention whatever I would drink when I went out to lunch or dinner!) and no longer watching hours and hours of TV every day (I used to - at the very least - watch TV from 8pm - 11pm every night). Now I drink water and iced-tea during the day...and hang out at the sports bar with my laptop at night! (I don't really know if that's much better, but....). But really, I'm more excited about the GOOD habit I have added to my repetoire of late, which is going to the gym all the time. I've been to the gym pretty much either every day or every other day for the entire month of September, and I've lost 9 pounds since moving to SoCal!! =)

And the other answers!

In the last 3 months I have broken the bad habits of bad eating. A HORRIBLE cholesterol test motivated me to cut out all fast food and soda (and really all trans-fats, almost all saturated fats, and a greatdeal of sugar) from my diet. As a result, in concert with a regular cardio workout, I've lost 15 pounds since July. (I'm still working on the bad habit of eating more than one serving size at meals... ah the American diet... it really seems sometimes like everyone wants us to be unhealthy...)

Smoking - going on 14 years

Spending 2 hours a day to answer joanne's QOTD!

Bad habits have to be broken?

I quit smoking 3 months ago!!! Woohoo!!

I don't think I have ever successfully broken a habit. I do wish I would drop one though, the one where I complete other people's sentences for them. It is very annoying!

Thankfully, I stopped dating psychos . . . .

Drinking heavily and often....now it's just heavily....RIGHT ON FOR PROGRESS!!!

Dieting!
